Why Every Car Should Have A Truck Bed

Why Every Car Should Have A Truck Bed

Pontiac is going to release their G8 Spots Truck (err…Car?) to the public, without the obvious El Camino label on it. SEMA will also show us another Pontiac G8 model, complete with lowered ride height, custom 20-inch wheels, G8 GXP steering wheel with red inserts, G8 GXP shift knob with red inserts and a ton of custom interior trims. Oh yes, and that TRUCK BED. But it’s not an El Camino…Pontiac swears.

But why wouldn’t you put a truck bed on the back of any automobile. Whether it’s two doors or four, you can’t beat the space!

The El Camino was a staple of GM design from the late 1950′s through the 80′s. The bed was added to the rear of Impala models, Chevelle Super Sports and even the Malibu. The G8 is the first fully original “El-Type” vehicle (though it does look like a Grand Prix) and GM is hoping it can stack up against the competitions nostalgia cards (Dodge’s Challenger and Ford’s Mustang).

Also, just for fun, if you Google “car bed” on image search, you’ll get this photo, which is apparently two girls on a “car bed” at some random auto show…or maybe it’s the porn awards.
