Turn Any Pontiac Into Knight Rider’s KITT
It was a sad day when the new Knight Rider premiered on NBC, and what we saw was an opening sequence featuring only leftover parts of the famous 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. To add insult to injury – the new KITT is a FORD PRODUCT!? Sigh…
Fear not kids – today all your Knight Rider (classic, of course) dreams will come true. We will show just how easy it is to turn anything with a Pontiac logo into your very own Knight Industries Two Thousand. For the purpose of this exercise we shall use the 2008 Pontiac G6:

You have to start with the red tracer light. It’s KITT’s main censor, allowing him to see through cars, past buildings and also occasionally shoot lazer beams at his evil KARR twin.

All black rims area must. They didn’t spin and they weren’t shiny – because KITT needed to be stealthy – and nothing is as stealthy as a Firebird from the early 80′s. Don’t forget the license plate. Slap some flat-black paint on your ride and the outside is pretty much a success.

Ford the inside, you have to get top of the line crime fighting and defense technology. Or, much like the 1982 television show, just a couple of crappy mini-monitors and lot of colorful buttons that probably belong on the bridge of the original Star Trek Enterprise set. And of course there’s the KITT talking module.

And there you have it – a completely up to date KITT made from a Pontiac. So, why did NBC go with the money Ford?
