It’s unconfirmed as of yet, but General Motors is getting rid of the auto maker by year’s end – so why not try to sell off models and design? The Pontiac Solstice convertible was one of the more original vehicles to come out of GM’s Pontiac brand in the past 5 years. But how do you get gullwing doors on a convertible?!

DMC’s higher-ups are curious about keeping the Wilmington Assembly plant that makes Solstice going. There’s no telling how realistic this all is, as today’s DMC only services the old DeLoreans. The company has reportedly acquired a Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe for closer consideration. All we need is the flux-capacitor and hover conversion – Back to the Future style.

This just in from our fine feathered friends at Jalopnik that Pontiac, the GM auto maker about to become extinct, will construct only 2000 G8 GXP and Solstice Coupes for its final year.

According to Jalop – “Pontiac will only build 2,000 Pontiac G8 GXPs and Solstice Coupes, ever, Buick/GMC/Pontiac marketing chief Cheryl Catton just informed us. She also called them potential “collector items.” Time to get to the Pontiac dealership while those still exist.”
