Pontiac G3 Hatchback – Coming to the USA
Pontiac is bringing a smaller, more economical (and eco-friendly) automobile over from Europe to the US Market. By Spring 2009 GM and Pontiac will introduce the four-cylinder 5-door G3 Hatchback. Introduced to the Canadian market as Wave5 – G3 is a rebranded and internally restyled Chevrolet Aveo.
The all new G3 is part of Pontiac’s Over 30 Miles Per Gallon club, including the 2009 Vibe (32 mpg), 2009 G6 sedan (33 mpg) and G5 coupe (37 mpg). But don’t think this little hatchback is a wimp – the G3 has a 106 horsepower 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine.
Vice President of Buick Pontiac GMC Susan Docherty said, “The small car segment has literally exploded in recent months, with sales up nearly 33 percent in the first six months of 2008 alone. With its proven success in other markets, we felt the time was right to bring the G3 into the BPG portfolio for our U.S. customers.”
