David Hasselhoff wants to make a movie based off the original Knight Rider series, with Simon Cowell voicing KITT. We approve!

Hasselhoff told a New Zealand site that he wishes to resurrect ‘Knight Rider’ into a film, with Simon Cowell voicing the iconic ’82 Pontiac Trans Am. He thinks Simon’s English accent would fit well. The Pontiac was originally voiced by William Daniels.

Hasselhoff worked for Cowell as a judge on TV’s ‘America’s Got Talent’, and later on the UK version ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’

The Hoff “has moved on from his role as Michael Knight, many people still associate him with it, including his own father.”

“My dad still calls me Michael, because of Michael Knight. A lot of people do – I even used to be Michael Knight on my answering machine.”

1969 – About 25 miles northwest of Detroit, Pontiac unleashed a GTO unlike any other. It was named “The Judge.”

Pontiac, who laid claim to the invention of the muscle car phenomenon in 1964, “laid everyone on their ear with a wildly colored Goat with Pop Art stripes, decals, and a 60-inch spoiler on the rear deck.”

“The Judge was a ‘hype,’” said marketing man Jim Wangers, godfather of the GTO. “The original ’64 GTO was created to be an image-making ‘hype’ for the more sedate LeMans. The Judge was created to be a ‘hype’ for the GTO.”

Over four decades later, Judge continues to be one of the greatest muscle cars ever built in America, and one of the most coveted vehicles on collectors’ minds today.

Volkswagen will attempt to prefect their driver awareness system, which can not only locate the owner of a car, but also detect traffic lights, speed limits, and adjusts the movement of your car accordingly.

I guess it’s better than using trick photography and having a stunt driver hide out in your backseat:

From WDTN 2 – SUGARCREEK TWP., Montgomery Co. (WDTN) – A single car crash on Interstate 675 shut down the southbound lanes in Sugarcreek Twp. for six hours Aug. 23.

Brennan S. Eden, 19, of Mason, Ohio, lost control of his car and slammed into the concrete pillar of a bridge south of Indian Ripple Road about 7:15 a.m.

The force of the crash broke the car into three pieces and Brennan was ejected.

Witnesses said moments before the crash, Brennan was passing other drivers at speeds of at least 100 mph. He crashed when he drove off the left side of the roadway while passing a Sugarcreek Twp. police car. The crash was caught on that officer’s cruiser camera.

“He went down into the median, into the grass, hit the guardrail, went airborne and the car hit the center post of the bridge and literally exploded into three main pieces,” said witness Mark Riley.

Police said Brennan was alert and conscious after the crash and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight where he was last listed in critical condition.

“He is very lucky to still be alive at this point,” said Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Marty Fellure. “You can see behind me the impact he took and where he got ejected and landed, he’s a very fortunate man right now.”

It may look like a next generation Firebird, or a concept KITT for a Knight Rider movie that will never be made. In fact, it is none of those things. Pontiac is gone, my lovelies, and we must all welcome that fact, or live in sad denial forever. But the boys and girls at Classic Design Concepts are selling a modern-day Trans Am, build over an all new Chevrolet Camaro.

Dubbed the Firebreather, the car is based on the Chevrolet Camaro and features a unique front fascia, new headlights (with LED halos), a revised hood, side sill extensions, and a modified rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. Other styling tweaks include new taillights, a rear spoiler, and 20-inch wheels outfitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Inside, the cabin boasts leather upholstery, piano black trim, red ambient lighting, special floor mats, and an individually numbered plaque.

Power is provided by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 599 horsepower instead of the standard 426 hp in your run-of-the-mill Camaro.

Firebreather production will be limited to 50 units and pricing starts at $60,000.

Gabe, the hero of our story, purchased this wrecked 1994 Pontiac Grand Am last summer from Dave’s Towing in Ann Arbor, Michigan for $100. The vehicle was running but sported a crushed roof, a damaged front end, and an otherwise crunch-and-munched body. Like any reasonable person, Gabe’s first thought was to “go all in” and convert the cursed car into a Batmobile.

After a few necessary repairs, work proceeded: Gabe sawed off the crushed roof and built a custom frame for the new roof and windows. Inspired by the Batmanesque charm of his creation, Gabe then rigged up and riveted on fins, reworked the nose, and spray-painted the car matte black. He capped it off with a Batman logo on the roof. The end result is something completely ghettorigged in appearance but also more attractive than a stock ’94 Grand Am. It’s also street legal.

When we see tuner cars like this Walkinshaw Performance Holden Supercharged wagon, based on the Pontiac G8 GXP, a tear sheds from our eyes knowing the end of Pontiac has already passed. Maybe it’s worth it, going to the Land Down unda’ – where the Pontiac-like Holden wagons are still for sale. Walkinshaw decided to take an already enhanced sports wagon and add 603 horse power to it. Crickey!

Walkinshaw’s Superwagon is based on a Holden SS-V Special Edition Sportwagon which comes from the factory with a 362HP 6.0-liter V8 with 390 lb-ft of torque. But Walkinshaw saw that as a starting point, packing on a roots type supercharger, bigger fuel injectors and custom 3-inch exhaust system to raise output to an passenger-rearranging 610 HP and 568 lb-ft of torque. The car also gets a stiffer set of lowering springs, new dampers and 20″ wheels and a powertrain warranty for all the work which matches the length of the original GM warranty.

Logos come and go, and tend to evolve with a company. Now that Pontiac is dead we will see an end to one classic automotive badge – The Pontiac Firebird. Originated with the first 1967 Trans Am from GM’s Pontiac, the Phoenix aflame quickly became infamous as a logo of American Horse Power. With a black body and hot orange flames Firebird rises from the hood like a supercharged beast.

Trans Am changed it up a bit in the 70′s, when Smokey and the Bandit needed a more outlandish hillbilly rocket. Their golden bird was blazed across the front of late 70′s and early-to-mid 80′s

Unfortunately, the 82 Trans Am Firedbird known only as KITT was excluded from having a large hood logo – make being stealth kinda hard.

Since those Firedbirds of past there’s been many updates and variants, including personalized versions: tattoos, patches for hats and shirts, American flag Firebirds and…well just about anything you can imagine. But the underline theme and design have remained the same no matter what. Unfortunately, this Firedbird will no longer be able to rise up from the flames.
